Srinagar, Mar 26 (KNO): The Centre has informed the Lok Sabha that the Ice Hockey Stadium in Kargil district of Ladakh remains incomplete, with key infrastructure yet to be installed.
Replying to an unstarred question, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, as reported by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that while the structural construction of the ice hockey rink at Khurbathang in Kargil has been completed, the crucial 24x7 mechanical chilling facility required for year-round operations is still pending.
The minister stated that the project was initially approved under the Special Development Plan (SDP) of the Ministry of Home Affairs at an estimated cost of Rs 32.58 crore. However, a revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) amounting to Rs 42.26 crore has now been submitted by the Union Territory administration of Ladakh.
