Srinagar, Mar 28 (KNO): Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen, President of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) and former minister, has voiced deep anguish over the large-scale destruction caused by strong winds across Kashmir, particularly in Budgam district. In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), he expressed concern over the suffering of people whose homes and properties have been severely damaged. “The strong winds have inflicted serious damage in several areas, including Khansahib, Beerwah, and Chadoora. Many families have been left in distress as their houses, shops, and essential infrastructure have been affected,” Hakeem Yaseen said. “I urge the administration to immediately assess the extent of the damage and provide adequate compensation to the victims.” He stressed that the affected families should not be left to struggle on their own and called for a comprehensive relief package to address their hardships. “The authorities must act swiftly to ensure that those who have lost their roofs and properties receive prompt assistance. Emergency arrangements should be made to provide shelter and basic necessities to the worst-affected families,” he added. Highlighting the extensive impact on public infrastructure, Hakeem Yaseen called for urgent measures to restore essential services. “The damage to electricity lines and public utilities has left many areas without power, making life difficult for the residents. The administration must expedite repair works and restore normalcy at the earliest,” he urged. Emphasizing the need for better disaster preparedness, he said, “Natural calamities like these remind us of the importance of having an effective response mechanism. The government should ensure that disaster management teams are equipped to handle such emergencies in the future.” Hakeem Yaseen appealed to civil society organizations and local volunteers to come forward and assist the affected communities. “We must stand together in times of crisis and extend all possible help to those in need,” he remarked. He reaffirmed his commitment to standing by the people in this difficult time and assured that he would continue to press the authorities for urgent action—(KNO)
