Budgam, Aug 15 (KNO): The 79th Independence Day was marked with high enthusiasm at Soibugh Chowk in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district, where locals, students and BJP workers gathered to hoist the National Flag. The event as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) witnessed the people from various walks of life participating in the celebrations, which included flag-hoisting and patriotic songs. BJP leader Ashraf Azad, who led the programme, said, “It’s not only me—hundreds gather here on both Republic Day and Independence Day to celebrate together.” Locals who attended said the sight of the Tiranga in Soibugh Chowk has become a matter of pride. “It’s good to see our children growing up watching this,” said Babar Isaq Wani, a local from the area. “Earlier, such a celebration was unthinkable, but now it’s a tradition we hope will continue every year.” Students from nearby schools also joined the celebrations, performing patriotic songs and waving small flags—(KNO)
