Sopore, Sep 22 (KNO): The residents of Sadipora and Warpora villages in north Kashmir Baramulla district on Tuesday morning staged a protest against inadequate water scarcity as well as power paucity in their areas from the last three months.
Witnesses told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the protesters staged a sit-in protest and blocked Sopore-Dangarpora bypass road, which led to the traffic mess in the area.
Ali Muhammad, one among the protesters told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that they have approached Jal Shakti department many times but nothing has been done regarding their grievances. He said that they have been forced to drink contaminated water for the last several months.
“We are being forced to face immense hardships as the residents are facing water scarcity from the last two years also and authorities hardly bother to look into this grave issue,” he said.
The protesters alleged that the area is also facing electricity shortage. They, however, threatened to organize a massive protest in case their demands are not fulfilled at an earliest.
