Srinagar, Jan 03 (KNO): Residents of Hamza Colony in Kenihama Nowgam here have raised concerns over the increasing risk posed by overgrown trees in their locality. The residents said they are feeling unsafe as the towering trees could damage their homes and disrupt their daily lives. Speaking with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the locals said the trees have grown too tall and lean dangerously towards their houses. “We are living in constant fear, especially during windy weather,” said Bilal Ahmad, a resident. He said the branches of a tree broke out during the recent snowfall and fell on an electric transform, causing a power outage in the area. Farooq Lone, another resident, said despite repeated requests to authorities, no action has been taken. “We have approached the concerned department several times, but no one has come to address the issue. We need immediate intervention before any mishap happens,” he said. The residents have urged the administration to take swift action and prune the trees to ensure the safety of the area. “We are worried about the safety of our children. We cannot let them play outside freely because we fear the branches might fall,” said Shakeela Begum, a worried mother—(KNO)
