MeT predicts light rain on April 17, 18

Srinagar, Apr 15 (KNO): The Meteorological Department on Wednesday said Jammu and Kashmir is expected to witness generally dry weather on April 16 with a brief spell of light rain or thundershower at a few places towards evening or night. A MeT Department official while talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said, “Weather is likely to turn generally cloudy on April 17 and 18, with light rain or thundershower at many places during morning or forenoon hours. It said gusty winds with speeds of 40–50 kmph and hailstorm may occur at a few locations during this period.” “On April 19, scattered places are likely to receive a brief spell of light rain or thundershower towards the afternoon, while the weather is expected to remain generally dry from April 20 to April 24,” he said, adding, “As per the evening data, Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 26.8°C, which is 6.6°C above normal, and a minimum of 7.6°C. Qazigund registered a maximum of 26.3°C and a minimum of 5.4°C, while Pahalgam recorded 21.6°C and 2.8°C. Kupwara recorded a maximum of 25.2°C and a minimum of 5.2°C, and Kokernag reported 23.8°C and 7.0°C. Gulmarg recorded a maximum temperature of 17.6°C, which is 8.1°C above normal, and a minimum of 3.5°C. In the Jammu division, Jammu city recorded a maximum temperature of 35.4°C and a minimum of 17.4°C. Banihal registered 26.0°C and 6.8°C, Batote recorded 26.4°C and 11.9°C, while Katra reported 32.2°C and 17.6°C. Bhaderwah recorded 25.1°C and 7.7°C.” The department said no rainfall was recorded at most stations during the past 24 hours. An advisory issued by the MeT department said farmers can continue farm operations till April 16—(KNO)
