Srinagar, Feb 08 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir ended the day at 228 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their Ranji Trophy quarterfinal match against Kerala at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Saturday. As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Yudhvir Singh remained unbeaten on 17 runs of 21 balls, while Auqib Nabi was on five runs of four balls. Kerala’s bowlers’ maintained pressure throughout the day, with MD Nidheesh taking five wickets for 56 runs in 23 overs. Jammu and Kashmir reached the quarterfinals by winning five matches out of seven in the Elite Group A. The team secured the top position in the group with 35 points. Kerala finished second in the same group with three wins and four draws, collecting 28 points. Jammu and Kashmir’s Playing XI included Shubham Khajuria, Yawer Hassan, Vivrant Sharma, captain Paras Dogra, wicketkeeper Kanhaiya Wadhawan, Sahil Lotra, Lone Nasir Muzaffar, Yudhvir Singh Charak, Abid Mushtaq, Auqib Nabi Dar, and Umar Nazir Mir. Earlier in the innings, Abid Mushtaq and Yudhvir Singh added crucial runs before Abid was dismissed. Nedumankuzhy Basil took one wicket, conceding 59 runs in 20 overs. Kerala’s bowlers controlled the scoring rate, preventing any major partnerships. Jammu and Kashmir's innings saw some resistance in the lower order, but regular wickets restricted the total. The team aimed to add more runs before Kerala’s innings began. The match continued with Kerala looking to wrap up the innings quickly, while Jammu and Kashmir focused on extending the total—(KNO)
