Operation of 4 medical stores suspended in Bijbehara | KNO

Anantnag, Apr 11 (KNO): Authorities on Friday suspended the operation of Abdullah Medical Store, located opposite Sub District Hospital (SDH) Bijbehara for unethical practices. A statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reads that a team of Drug Control Officers of District Anantnag and police authorities Bijbehara closed the operation of a medical store at Bijbehara for violating the conditions of licences and for dispensing the expired injectable to a patient . “On receiving a complaint regarding the dispensing of expired injectable medicine by Abdullah Medical store opp SDH Bijbehara, the Drug Control Authority Anantnag and officers from police station Bijbehara acted promptly and jointly raided the medical shop of Abdullah Medical store,” the statement reads. During investigation and after checking the CCTV surveillance system of the medical store, it has been established that they have violated the prescription norms and other conditions of licences. “Records of various medicines, which are prone to addiction and those which have been prescribed and dispensed in violation of norms to the patient have been demanded for further course of action under law,” the statement reads. Meanwhile, the operation of the medical store was closed down on the spot till completion of investigation. “More than 12 drug samples of various categories were lifted for testing and analysis purposes for establishing their quality parameters,” the statement said. The team also inspected more than 15 medical establishments in and around the SDH including the dispensing section and drug store of SDH Bijbehara. The operation of other three medical stores namely Shafeeq Medical Store, Javeed Medical Store and Zeerak Medical Store were also closed down for improper computerized maintenance of records of medicines. Later, the team requested the Medical Superintendent SDH Bijbehara to direct the health care professionals posted in the facility for proper writing of prescriptions and for improving hygienic conditions inside the dispensary section mainly in the interest of patient care—(KNO)
