No plans for new veterinary centres in J&K as of now: Govt | KNO

Srinagar, Mar 10 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday said there are no plans to open new veterinary centres in the Union Territory at present. Replying to a question from MLA Showkat Hussain Ganie, the Minister for Agriculture Production and Rural Development, said no decision has been taken regarding the establishment of new veterinary centres. As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the minister said setting up new centres involves multiple processes, including the creation of posts, acquisition of land, construction requirements, and a series of inter-departmental consultations, which have not been initiated as of now. Replying to another query, the minister said 16 veterinary centres are currently functional in the Zainapora Constituency. He said the sanctioned staff strength for these centres stands at 53, and all 53 positions are fully staffed. "Five trial centres are operational in the constituency, and they are functioning effectively through internal adjustments," he said—(KNO)
