Jammu, Nov 21 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir BJP chief Sat Sharma Thursday termed the National Conference’s special status resolution as “constitutionally illegal” and accused the Speaker of Legislative Assembly Abdur Rahim Rather of being partisan As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), speaking at a seminar titled “Unconstitutional Resolution,” organized by the BJP’s Legal Cell at the party headquarters in Jammu, Sharma criticized the manner in which the resolution was passed. “The resolution was passed after Speaker directed for throwing out all BJP MLAs from the House. No matter how many times the NC passes a resolution calling for the restoration of Article 370, the fact remains that the decision to revoke it was made by the Prime Minister of India, and it is final,” Sharma asserted. The J& BJP chief reiterated that the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, marked a decisive moment in Jammu and Kashmir’s political history. He commended Prime Minister Modi for taking bold steps that transformed the region’s political landscape, stating that the changes initiated on that day were beyond reversal. “Under the leadership of PM Modi, Jammu and Kashmir has experienced a profound transformation,” Sharma said. “Not only has peace been restored, but marginalized communities such as the West Pakistani Refugees and Valmikis have also received long-awaited justice through the extension of their voting rights.” Sharma also criticized the NC for continuing to promote the idea of restoring Article 370 and 35A, accusing the party of misleading the people of Kashmir. “The NC’s actions are nothing more than an attempt to deceive the public. During past elections, they falsely promised to reinstate Article 370 and 35A, only to fall short,” he remarked. Sharma underscored the BJP’s electoral success, pointing out that the party secured its highest-ever vote share of 26 percent, while the NC’s share was limited to 23 percent. He also noted Congress’s poor performance, with the party managing only 12 percent of the vote share despite its claims of having a Chief Minister candidate. In conclusion, Sharma stressed that the abrogation of Article 370 and the subsequent developments in Jammu and Kashmir had laid the foundation for a more peaceful, prosperous, and inclusive future for the region. He also sent that BJP MLAs will reach out to districts to listen to the people’s issue and raise the same for redressal on fast track basis—(KNO)
