J&K bags two Padma Vibhushan awards | KNO

Srinagar, Jan 25 (KNO): The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Saturday announced two Padma Vibhushan awards for Jammu and Kashmir in the fields of Art and Literature & Education, ahead of Republic Day 2025. As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Farooq Ahmad Mir has been recognized in the field of Art, and Lalit Kumar Mangotra in the field of Literature and Education. The Padma Awards, one of the highest civilian honors in India, are conferred in three categories: Padma Vibhushan for exceptional and distinguished service, Padma Bhushan for distinguished service of high order, and Padma for distinguished service in any field. These awards cover various disciplines, including art, social work, public affairs, science, medicine, sports, literature, and civil service. The awards are announced annually on Republic Day and conferred by the President of India in ceremonial functions held at Rashtrapati Bhawan, usually in March or April—(KNO)
