Drug peddler arrested in Sopore; contraband substance recovered: Police | KNO

Srinagar, Apr 06 (KNO): Continuing its sustained drive against the drug menace, Police in Sopore arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession. According to a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a police party of PP Putkha during naka checking at Wagub Crossing intercepted a suspicious person. During checking, Charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Irfan Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat resident of Panzipora Tarzoo. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 49/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and wider linkages involved. Police reiterate their zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and reaffirm their commitment to sustained enforcement to safeguard youth and society from the menace of drugs—(KNO)
