Pulwama, Dec 27 (KNO): The Awami Itehad Party (AIP) held its first delegates meeting in Pulwama after the assembly elections, which was presided over by Vice President G.N. Shaheen. As per a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the meeting saw the active participation of party leaders and Delegates including District President Pulwama Altaf Ahmad Bhat, District Pulwama Coordinator Ajaz Ahmad Thakur and DDC & District President Shopian Raja Waheed, who were praised for their efforts in strengthening the party's organizational framework. Delegates voiced their collective concern over the prolonged detention of AIP Chairman and Member of Parliament for Baramulla, Er Rashid, demanding his immediate release. They emphasized that his continued incarceration is a grave injustice and deprives the people of his effective leadership and representation. The participants also raised pressing issues faced by the public, including the non-availability of electricity during the harsh winter months. They accused the National Conference (NC) of making hollow promises during the elections and failing to deliver on their commitments. Delegates criticized the government for not addressing the electricity crisis and for its inability to provide tangible relief to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Furthermore, concerns were raised over the government’s silence regarding the release of political prisoners. The delegates expressed dismay over the lack of any concrete steps or mentions in policy to address this pressing issue, calling it a breach of public trust and a disregard for justice. The meeting concluded with a resolution to amplify efforts to highlight these issues and to strengthen the party’s grassroots movement. The leaders reaffirmed AIP’s commitment to standing by the people of Jammu and Kashmir and fighting for their legitimate rights—(KNO)
