3 drug peddlers arrested in Sopore, Kupwara: Police | KNO

Srinagar, Apr 10 (KNO): In continuation of its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police on Thursday said to have arrested three drug peddlers in Sopore & Kupwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession. A police party headed by Incharge Police Post Bus Stand under the supervision of SDPO Sopore and SHO Police Station at a checkpoint established at Neharpora Sopore, intercepted a Vehicle (Ecco) bearing registration number JK05M-4294 driven by Jahangir Ahmad Shah son of Mohammad Yousuf Shah resident of Neharpora Sopore, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). During the search, the police party recovered 300 tablets of Alpradex 0.5 and a cash amount of Rs 22550 from his possession. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has been seized. “Moreover, a police party of Police Station Sopore headed by SHO Police Station Sopore under the supervision of SDPO Sopore at a checkpoint established at Super Bazar near Batpora Crossing, apprehended a suspicious person identified as Asif Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh resident of Shahabad Sopore. During the search, the police party recovered two sticks of contraband charas like substance from his possession,” police said. In Kupwara, a police party from Police Station Lalpora while on patrolling duty in the Bunpora area, intercepted a suspicious person identified as Fayaz Ahmad Wani son of Abdul Rashid Wani resident of Lolab. During the search, a substantial amount of Charas-like substance was recovered from his possession, police said. All the accused have been arrested. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated, police added. Meanwhile, Police urged the common masses to share information regarding narcotics or any other crimes to the nearest police establishment or dial 112. “General Public is requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per the law,” the statement reads—(KNO)
