Srinagar, Jan 21 (KNO): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has reacted to the J&K government’s decision to replace Dr Hina Shafi Bhat with Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary as the chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB), terming it a government prerogative that must be respected. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur said, "This is a decision taken by the government, and we respect it. Everyone must honour and accept such decisions." Thakur further said there is a need for transparency and accountability in governance. “If there are any irregularities, it is the responsibility of the government and concerned agencies to look into them. Transparency and accountability have always been the BJP’s priority,” he said. Dr Hina Shafi Bhat, a senior BJP leader, was appointed as the chairperson of KVIB in 2018. She was replaced by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary in a late-night order issued by the government on Monday—(KNO)
