Anantnag, Dec 12 (KNO): A truck conductor lost his life, and the driver was injured after their vehicle plunged into a deep gorge near Naadi Balan, about six kilometers from Margan Top in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that an accident occurred when a truck bearing registration number JK03K-2017 rolled down into a deep gorge near Naadi Balan, Margan Top. The truck, traveling from Anantnag toward Warwan, went out of the driver’s control, leading to the conductor's death on the spot and injuring the driver. Soon after the incident, local police and administrative teams reached the site of the accident. The body of the deceased was recovered, and the injured driver was shifted to a hospital for treatment. The deceased conductor was identified as Jaffar Ahmad Khatana, son of Irshad Ahmad Khatana from Larnoo, while the injured driver was identified as Mumtaz Ahmad Tandeva, son of Ismail Tandeva, also from Larnoo, Kokernag. Meanwhile, Kokernag Sub-Divisional administration has issued an advisory regarding traffic movement towards Warwan. The advisory reads: "The winter season is in full swing and Gawran Warwan road has received heavy snowfall and is frozen due to minus temperature. There is every apprehension of road accidents and mishaps. The negligence of drivers is leading to accidents which are the main cause of loss of lives." It further states: "Keeping in view of the facts, SHO Larnoo and traffic Police authorities are hereby directed that they shall allow traffic movement from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM only w.e.f 12-12-2024 in case of dry weather to pass towards Margan Top and shall not allow any vehicle before and after the time fixed under reference. If any vehicle is found violating the advisory his vehicle be seized immediately and SHO concerned/traffic police authorities shall keep strict vigil on violators."—(KNO)
