Says reluctance of doctor to attend patient leaves baby dead in mother’s womb

Srinagar, Jun 25 (KNO): A family from Hyderpora area of Srinagar here has alleged negligence by a lady doctor, saying that her reluctance to attend the patient at appropriate time has resulted into the death of a baby in the mother’s womb. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Sajid Zargar said that on June 20, his wife noticed less movement of a baby in her womb following which they visited Ramzana hospital where USG and some other tests were conducted. “We were advised by everyone including the Radiologists to ensure that the delivery is done at earliest because the situation of the baby was very critical,” he said, adding that they pleaded Dr Shahida Mir, for conducting surgery, who claimed that the surgery is not being carried out in 35th week of pregnancy. “She asked to administer a steroid injection to the patient on June 20. However, in the intervening night of June 20-21, the junior doctors on duty who were monitoring fetal rate on hourly basis found zero fetal rate of the baby, the baby was dead. He said that the doctor later visited the hospital after the death of the baby in the night, but that was of no use. “We pleaded with her to visit the hospital in the afternoon, but she didn’t,” he said. Despite repeated attempts, Dr Shahida Mir couldn’t be contacted for the comments—(KNO)
