Sopore, Feb 25 (KNO): Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, North Kashmir range, Maqsood ul Zaman Tuesday urged the youth of Kashmir to utilize sports infrastructure—saying the sports can divert youth from negative influences. Speaking at the closing ceremony of Sopore Police Martyrs Memorial T20 cricket tournament, DIG Zaman as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) highlighted the significance of sports in shaping the future of youth. He said that the engagement in sports and constructive activities plays a vital and positive role in personal growth and community development. "We want our youth to take advantage of the infrastructure available and channel their energy towards a brighter future.” DIG NKR reaffirmed J&K Police's commitment to promoting youth initiatives, ensuring that young talent receives the necessary support and opportunities to excel. Pertinently, the Sopore Police Martyrs Memorial T20 cricket tournament Tuesday concluded with a thrilling final wherein Student Cricket Club Warpora clinched the title by defeating Seer Eleven by just one run. It is noteworthy that the tournament, dedicated to the sacrifices of J&K Police martyrs, commenced on December 24, 2024 aimed to foster a spirit of sportsmanship and discipline among youth. It featured 32 teams across Sopore Police district. The closing ceremony was graced by DIG North Kashmir Range, SSP Sopore and other senior officers of J&K Police. Dignitaries felicitated the winning and runner-up teams with trophies and cash prizes, with Rs 1,00, 000 awarded to the champions and Rs 50,000 to the runner-up—(KNO)
