Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Ganderbal, Tariq Ahmad, while talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said the department launched a massive market checking campaign last year during which 111 cases were registered against the traders who were found violating various sections of the Legal Metrology Act. A fine of Rs 2,24,800 was recovered from the erring shopkeepers, Tariq said, adding that the violators were found across different business establishments and outlets including LPG dealers, vegetable, fruit, mutton and poultry sellers, and petrol pumps.
