Srinagar, Dec 02 (KNO): The J&K government has directed the executing agency to make Bakshi stadium Srinagar ready for inauguration on December 15 and file the day-wise work schedule to the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir office from onwards, officials revealed Thursday. A review meeting to check the status of various developmental projects was held on November 29, which was chaired by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir PK Pole in presence of top officials, from R&B, Sports Council, NPCC, and the representatives of the project implementing agencies. According to the minutes of the meeting, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the renovation, up-gradation, and development of sports infrastructure facility at Bakshi Stadium and Sher-e-Kashmir stadium was reviewed and after threadbare discussions, several directions were issued by the chair. Notably, Rs 40.85 crore were approved for Bakshi Stadium while a total of Rs 10.2 crore were accorded to Sher-e- Kashmir Stadium, and the deadline for the pending work was fixed as December 31, 2021. As per the document, the chair directed that the Bakshi stadium shall be ready for inauguration on December 15 in all respects while the day-wise working schedule shall be framed and submitted to the office of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir on daily basis. It was also directed that instead of terracotta tiles High-Pressure Laminates (HPL) shall be used and the work shall be completed within 20 days without escalating the cost. The document read that the direction has been given to the contractor for the completion of the UG tank up to 15th December 2021 positively without any fail. Further regarding the Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium, the chair directed that the week-wise work schedule shall be framed and shared with this office (Div Com). "So that vigil is kept on the pace of work, besides, adherence to the deadline completion of work", the document said. The work shall be completed by December 30, 2021 As per the document, the chair will conduct visits to both sites on November 07, 2021 to check the status of the work besides were directed to ensure that no debris/material should be lying on spot. Regarding the work component and their progress, the structural work on the new pavilion has been completed in all respect and the renovation of the old has been done up to 90% besides many other works have been completed while some are under process—(KNO)
