Srinagar, May 11 (KNO): The residents of Kachir Mohalla in the interiors of world famous Dal Lake here stated a protest on Wednesday against the incumbent Vice Chairman of Lakes & Conservation Management Authority (LCMA) for allegedly creating hurdles in taking steps towards developing the locality as a model village.
Earlier, the government had stated that six interior localities of Dal Lake here including Kachri Mohalla, Sofi Mohalla, Tinda Mohalla, Mir Mohalla Golden Lake, Estate Karpora and Kani Mohalla will be developed as model villages.
However, scores of inhabitants from Kachri Mohalla took to the streets today to protest against the incumbent VC of LCMA, claiming that he was creating hurdles in the way of developing their locality as a model village as promised by the government.
“In 2014, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised that the Dal dwellers will not face any discrimination. But, time and again the dwellers here have been discriminated,” Ghulam Nabi, a local resident said, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
He further stated that although the Chief Secretary during his visit the locality had promised that the model villages will come up within three months, one fails to understand why the process has been unnecessarily delayed by the incumbent VC LCMA.
“We want VC LCMA, Bashir Ahmad to be transferred at earliest and the process be started to develop the locality as model village,” the residents said—(KNO)
