Grand celebrations in Budgam as Aga Ruhullah becomes first-time MP from constituency | KNO

Budgam, Jun 04 (KNO): Thousands of people gathered in the main town of Budgam to celebrate the historic victory of Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, a senior leader of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), who has won from the Srinagar parliamentary constituency. Ruhulla secured a total vote count of 356,866 to feature on the top. The senior politician is followed by Waheed-ur-Rehman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who has a total of 168,450 votes, Mohammad Ashraf of Apni Party with 65,954 and Aamir Ahmad Bhat of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) with 15,104. As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the celebrations began around 2 pm, with people bursting firecrackers, chanting slogans and waving flags. The crowd was eager to welcome their beloved leader, who was leading in the polls. The atmosphere was filled with festivity and unity, reflecting the high spirits and optimism of the community. "I have come from Bandipora to celebrate Aga Ruhullah’s win. It’s not just about Budgam, but the entire Kashmir that has gotten such a leader,” said Arif, a resident who had travelled from north Kashmir’s Bandipora district to join the celebrations. Another youth, Syed Tasaduk Hussain, said, “We are lucky to have a leader like Ruhullah. We are confident that he will do for us what no one has done so far. We have been celebrating since morning and will continue until we're exhausted.” When Aga arrived at his hometown, he was warmly welcomed by thousands of his supporters who had been waiting for him for hours. In his speech, Ruhullah thanked everyone for their support and promised to fulfill all the promises he had made during the election campaign. He vowed to continue fighting for the dignity of Jammu and Kashmir. The celebrations were a testament to the widespread support and admiration Ruhulla commands in the area.—(KNO)
