Anantnag, Oct 25 (KNO): Several key posts including the post of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) are lying vacant in South Kashmir Anantnag district with the employees working in the different hospitals stating that the absence of the top officials has affected the work badly. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), it has come to the fore that key positions including the CMO Anantnag, Block Medical Officers for Bijbehara and Achabal as well as the position of DTO are lying vacant for a long time now. The district has no permanent CMO since March 2022 as the deputy CMO at present is performing the duties of CMO, which simultaneously has affected the work badly. Besides, the posts of BMO Bijbehara and Achabal too are lying vacant for the past eight month now. “These key positions should have been filled on priority, but unfortunately the authorities are delaying it for unknown reasons,” sources said. They added that the health department has been working hard to ensure better healthcare facilities to the people, but such issues are affecting the work. “Such issues need to be resolved at the shortest possible time so that the people could heave a sigh of relief and no works would remain pending for a long time,” they said. Meanwhile, Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr Jahangir Bakhshi told KNO that the posts couldn’t be filled due to the Model Code Conduct (MCC). However, he said that all the key posts will be filled within a few days—(KNO)
