Srinagar, Feb 24 (KNO): Patients at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Chogul in north Kashmir's Kupwara district have been suffering due to waterlogging in the hospital premises for several years. Residents informed the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that for the past eight years, the PHC grounds have been prone to waterlogging whenever there is wet weather. They said despite repeated assurances from officials over the years, no concrete action has been taken to address the issue. Aaqib Bashir, a local, expressed concern over the plight of patients, saying the health centre remains inundated for days after wet weather, forcing attendants to carry patients on their backs. Another resident, Rouf Ahmad, said there has been no progress despite visits from officials of the Road & Buildings Department and other agencies. “The PHC serves patients from several villages in the vicinity,” Rouf said, adding that dozens of people visit the health centre daily. Despite bringing the matter to the attention of authorities multiple times, locals said they have seen no improvement in the situation. They appealed to higher authorities, particularly Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, to personally intervene and resolve the issue to prevent further suffering for patients—(KNO)
