Srinagar, Mar 05 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Wednesday saw intense discussions as Handwara MLA Sajad Gani Lone questioned past governments, particularly the National Conference (NC), over decades of violence in the region.
Speaking in the House, Lone raised concerns over the loss of lives in Jammu and Kashmir, asking who should be held accountable. He said that while many had died, political discourse often overlooked responsibility. Responding to NC MLA Shamima Firdous, he said that large-scale violence occurred under NC’s rule from 1996–2002 and 2008–2014, yet no one was held answerable.
Lone also referred to the case of Shabir Shah, a separatist leader who has spent over 45 years in jail. He pointed out that 30 of those years were under NC-led governments, questioning why discussions on political detentions often ignored such cases—(KNO)
