Srinagar, Nov 15 (KNO): A day after the powerful explosion ripped through Nowgam Police Station, killing nine people and injuring over 30, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday paid a visit to the injured at SMHS and Ujala Cygnus hospitals in Srinagar. Moving from one ward to another, the LG interacted with the victims, enquired about their recovery and directed doctors to ensure the best possible treatment and care. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the Lieutenant Governor inquired about the condition of the injured and directed the doctors to ensure timely medical attention and all necessary facilities. He assured the victims and their families of the government's full assistance. The team of doctors briefed the Lieutenant Governor about the nature of injuries and the treatment being provided. Later, the LG visited the Police Control Room (PCR) headquarters, where he laid a wreath and offered floral tributes to the police personnel, revenue officials and a civilian who lost their lives in the tragic blast. In a post on X, LG Sinha said: “Laid a wreath and offered my solemn tributes to the Police Personnel, Revenue Officials and a Civilian who lost their lives in an accidental blast at Nowgam Police Station last night. The nation will forever remain indebted to their selfless service and supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. Interacted with the bereaved families and expressed my deep condolences. The nation stands shoulder to shoulder with them in this difficult hour.” The LG arrived in Srinagar this afternoon from Jammu following the incident that claimed nine lives, including a State Investigation Agency (SIA) officer, a Naib Tehsildar and a civilian tailor, while 31 others were wounded after a stockpile of explosives seized from a terror module in Faridabad went off accidentally inside the police station. Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg and Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo also visited SMHS Hospital and Ujala Hospital to enquire about the well-being of the injured. During the visit, the medical officers briefed them about the treatment and recovery progress. The Divisional Commissioner directed hospital administrations to provide quality healthcare, timely medication, and all necessary facilities to the victims. Moreover, both officers interacted with the patients and assured them that the district administration will extend every possible support for their recovery. It is worth mentioning that officials said the blast occurred while a forensic team was handling a cache of ‘ammonium nitrate-based material’ seized earlier this month from Faridabad and stored in the Nowgam Police Station yard. Police have stated that the explosion was accidental and took place during the inspection process—(KNO)
