Srinagar, Apr 07 (KNO): Two separate fire incidents were reported in Srinagar city on Monday—one at the headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Polo View and another at a residential house in Nawakadal area, officials said on Monday. According to the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), in the first incident, a fire broke out at the PDP office near S K Park in Polo View, damaging three single-storey structures. “One of the structures was used as a store/mess by the PDP, while the other two belonged to the Estates Department,” an official said, adding that the roofing, ceiling, doors, windows, and stored materials including cable rolls and furniture were damaged in the blaze. “A nearby Chinar tree also suffered partial damage,” he added. The official said a fire-fighter, identified as Bashir Ahmad, was injured while dousing the flames and was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. In another incident at Nawakadal Chowk, a fire broke out in a single-storey residential house. “Stored timber and utensils in one of the rooms were partially damaged,” the official said, adding that the cause of the fire is under investigation. Meanwhile, no loss of life was reported in either of the incidents—(KNO)
