Srinagar, May 13 (KNO): In the ongoing elections for the Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency, authorities have taken measures to ensure inclusivity and accessibility for all voters by establishing special polling booths. According to a senior official speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), these specialised polling stations are being manned by women, youth and persons with disabilities (PwD) to facilitate a smooth electoral process for all voters. Across the Srinagar constituency, a total of 19 polling stations will be operated by women, 18 by youth, and 17 by persons with disabilities, he said, adding that these stations have been strategically distributed throughout Srinagar, Ganderbal, Pulwama, Budgam and Shopian districts to cater to the diverse demographic spread of the constituency. The official further said that nine unique polling stations have been established in various districts, each tailored to serve specific communities and geographical areas. “This initiative is geared towards enhancing accessibility and convenience for voters, especially those residing in remote or marginalised areas,” he said. Moreover, the introduction of 23 green polling stations highlights the commitment to environmental sustainability during the electoral process, the official said, adding that these eco-friendly stations were equipped with environmentally conscious practices and technologies, contributing to a greener electoral footprint. By establishing dedicated polling stations for women, youth, persons with disabilities and unique communities, electoral authorities aim to ensure that every eligible voter can exercise their democratic right with ease and dignity—(KNO)
