Police arrest drug peddler in Budgam | KNO

Srinagar, Feb 04 (KNO): Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police on Tuesday said to have arrested a drug peddler in Budgam and recovered contraband substance from his possession. A police team of Police Post Soibugh at a checkpoint established at village Harran intercepted a suspicious person, who on seeing the police party he tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During his personal search, charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Sameer Ahmad Beigh son of Ghulam Hassan Beigh resident of Check Soibugh. The accused person has been arrested and a case FIR No. 17/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Budgam and investigation initiated, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). J&K Police remains resolute in its mission to eliminate drug-related activities in the region and safeguard the community. The general public is requested to remain vigilant and report drug peddling activities to the nearest police station, ensuring collective action against the menace of drug addiction and trafficking, police said—(KNO)
