Leh, Apr 28 (KNO): Just a day after the formation of five new districts in Ladakh, Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Monday approved the appointment of Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) for all five newly created districts -Nubra, Sham, Changthang, Zanskar, and Drass - to ensure immediate operationalisation of governance structures. The Lieutenant Governor, as reported by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), exhorted the newly appointed officials to take charge without any delay and work with full vigour and dedication to fulfil the aspirations of the people. Saxena said the remaining posts of subordinate officials will also be filled on priority, apart from fulfilling logistical requirements, to ensure smooth and effective functioning. "A robust administrative framework is being put in place to support long-term governance and development goals," he said, adding that decentralised governance will significantly improve service delivery, enhance administrative efficiency, and strengthen law and order at the grassroots level. In Changthang district, headquartered at Nyoma, Nitish Rajoria (IAS) has been appointed as Deputy Commissioner, while SZ Abbas Jaffari (JKPS) has been posted as Superintendent of Police. In Nubra district, headquartered at Diskit, Mukul Beniwal (IAS) has been appointed as Deputy Commissioner, while Stanzin Losal (JKPS) has been posted as SSP. In Zanskar district, headquartered at Padum, Imkar Rajendra Gundage (IAS) has been appointed as Deputy Commissioner, while Rigzen Sandup (JKPS) has been posted as SSP. In Drass district, headquartered at Drass-Ranbirpura, Imteeaz Kacho (JKAS) has been appointed as Deputy Commissioner, while Ishtyaq Ahmad (JKPS) has been posted as Superintendent of Police. The existing district administrations of Leh and Kargil will continue to function with their current officials while coordinating closely with the newly created districts during the transition phase—(KNO)
