Srinagar, May 04 (KNO): A joint delegation of the Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) and Bank of Baroda on Monday called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in Srinagar to discuss strengthening banking outreach and boosting economic activity in Jammu & Kashmir.
In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said the Bank of Baroda delegation was led by Ms. Beena Vaheed, Executive Director, Ms. K.V. Sheetal Chief General Manager, Mr. Sabheak Singh General Manager and Mr. Santosh Kumar Assistant General Manager.
“The KTMF delegation was led by its President Mohammad Yaseen Khan and comprised prominent members including Qazi Tauseef and Vishal Malhotra.”
He said during the meeting Bank of Baroda presented its roadmap for expansion in Jammu & Kashmir, highlighting plans to enhance branch presence, improve credit flow to key sectors and introduce customer-friendly banking services tailored to local business needs.
“The delegation emphasized the bank’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurs, traders, artisans and small and medium enterprises across the region,” said the spokesperson.
He said, KTMF delegation underscored the pressing need for accessible and responsive banking services for the trading community. Key issues concerning ease of credit, support for genuine borrowers and strengthening financial inclusion were discussed in detail.
The spokesperson said, KTMF also highlighted the importance of a proactive banking approach in addressing the challenges faced by local businesses. The Hon’ble Chief Minister appreciated the joint initiative of KTMF and Bank of Baroda terming it a constructive step towards aligning financial institutions with grassroots economic stakeholders.
“He assured full support from the government for the bank’s expansion plans and emphasized the need for a robust banking network to facilitate sustainable economic development in Jammu & Kashmir. On the occasion KTMF extended full business support and cooperation to Bank of Baroda, assuring that the trading community would actively engage with and benefit from the bank’s initiatives.”
