Srinagar, Oct 17 (KNO): Around 600 patients registered for medical assistance on the first day of a two-day mega medical camp organised by the Indian Army at Basantgarh in Doda district under Operation Sadbhavana, providing free healthcare services to residents of remote and underserved areas. In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a defence spokesperson said the camp was organised at Government Higher Secondary School, Basantgarh, to provide free healthcare services and specialised medical assistance to local residents. He said a team of medical professionals provided consultations in general medicine, eye care, dentistry, cardiac screening, respiratory care and ENT, with special attention to elderly citizens, women and children. Free medicines were also distributed among beneficiaries. Assistive devices, including wheelchairs, crutches, walkers and hearing aids, were provided to needy beneficiaries according to their medical requirements, the spokesperson said, adding that the camp also facilitated early identification of health concerns, preventive healthcare awareness and guidance for further treatment. He said the initiative brought essential healthcare services closer to remote communities, reducing travel hardships and improving access to medical assistance. The spokesperson said local residents appreciated the Army’s efforts to improve healthcare accessibility, promote community welfare and strengthen mutual trust and goodwill. The two-day camp will continue on October 18, extending medical services to additional beneficiaries from Basantgarh and adjoining villages, he added. The initiative is part of the Army’s efforts under Operation Sadbhavana to support humanitarian assistance, community welfare and civil-military relations—(KNO)
