New Delhi, Apr 23 (KNO): A day after the deadly terror attack that claimed at least 26 lives including two foreign nationals in Baisaran meadows near Pahalgam, United States Vice President JD Vance has conveyed America’s readiness to provide full assistance to India in the ongoing fight against terrorism. Vance, who is on a visit to India accompanied by his family, spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed deep condolences over the loss of lives in the attack. The Vice President “strongly condemned the dastardly terror attack” and reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to stand with New Delhi during this difficult time, according to a statement posted by MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal on X. “Vice President Vance also expressed that the United States is ready to provide all assistance in the joint fight against terrorism,” the statement, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said, underscoring a renewed push for counter-terror cooperation between the two nations. Prime Minister Modi thanked Vice President Vance and U.S. President Donald Trump for their messages of support and solidarity. Earlier, former U.S. President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to express his condolences and support following the Pahalgam terror attack. “Deeply disturbing news out of Kashmir. The United States stands strong with India against Terrorism. We pray for the souls of those lost, and for the recovery of the injured. Prime Minister Modi, and the incredible people of India, have our full support and deepest sympathies. Our hearts are with you all!” Trump posted. Notably, Tuesday's attack is the major terror attack targeted against civilians in the Valley since 2019. Meanwhile, leaders across the world have strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack, expressing solidarity with India and extending support to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government in its efforts to combat terrorism—(KNO)
