India AI Data & AI Labs operational in J&K; over 350 youth trained under AI courses: GoI | KNO

Srinagar, Jul 22 (KNO): Two IndiaAI Data & AI Labs are currently operational in Jammu and Kashmir, with hundreds of students enrolled, trained and certified under Artificial Intelligence-related skill development programmes, the Government of India (GoI) informed the Lok Sabha. Replying to an unstarred question in the Lok Sabha, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said that 27 IndiaAI Data & AI Labs have been established at NIELIT centres across the country, while work is underway to set up another 188 labs in ITIs and Polytechnics. According to the state-wise data, accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Jammu and Kashmir has two operational IndiaAI Data & AI Labs, while neighbouring Ladakh has one operational lab. The ministry said that under the 'Fundamentals of Data Annotation using Python' course in Jammu and Kashmir, 171 students have registered, 20 are undergoing training, 151 have completed training, 48 have been certified, and no dropouts have been reported. Similarly, under the 'Fundamentals of Data Curation using Python' course, 183 students have registered, 32 are undergoing training, 151 have completed training, 73 have received certification, while no dropouts have been reported in the Union Territory. For Ladakh, the government said 89 students registered for the Data Annotation course, with 59 completing training and 20 receiving certification. Under the Data Curation course, 120 students registered, 61 completed training, and 21 were certified. The Centre said the IndiaAI Data & AI Labs have been established under the IndiaAI FutureSkills initiative to build AI-ready talent by providing hands-on training in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and emerging technologies, particularly in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. The labs currently offer NCVET-recognised certification courses in Data Annotation and Data Curation using Python—(KNO)
