Pulwama, Jul 28 (KNO): The annual Mata Jwala Ji Mela was celebrated with great religious fervour and traditional enthusiasm at the revered Mata Jwala Ji Temple at Khrew in South Kashmir's Pulwama district on Tuesday.
According to the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) the mela drew thousands of devotees from across Jammu and Kashmir and other regions of the country.
The temple premises witnessed a steady influx of pilgrims from the early hours of the morning as devotees gathered to offer special prayers, perform religious rituals, and seek blessings for peace, prosperity, and the well-being of the nation.
The annual fair transformed the entire area into a vibrant spiritual hub, with an atmosphere marked by devotion and celebration.
To facilitate the smooth conduct of the event, the district administration made elaborate arrangements, including traffic regulation, security deployment, sanitation, medical assistance, and other essential services. Officials ensured that pilgrims could participate in the religious observances without inconvenience, while security personnel maintained strict vigil throughout the day.
The annual mela also attracted several political leaders and public representatives, who visited the shrine to extend greetings to members of the Kashmiri Pandit community and other devotees.
They described the event as a symbol of Kashmir's rich composite culture and stressed the importance of preserving communal harmony, mutual respect, and the Valley's centuries-old traditions of peaceful coexistence.
Besides the religious ceremonies, the fair featured a festive atmosphere with devotees taking part in customary rituals and enjoying the cultural vibrancy associated with the annual event.
Many pilgrims appreciated the arrangements put in place by the administration, saying they ensured a peaceful and well-organised celebration.
