Srinagar, Apr 11 (KNO): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) workers, mostly women, on Friday held a protest outside the party headquarters here against the recently introduced Waqf Amendment Act 2025. The protesters carried placards and raised slogans, strongly opposing the bill. They accused the government of interfering in religious affairs and called the move an attack on the community's religious institutions. “This bill is an attempt to take control of our religious places and resources. We will not accept it,” said a protesting PDP worker as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). The demonstrators also criticized the National Conference (NC) for what they called a “concerning silence” on the issue. “Their silence speaks volumes. We expected them to raise their voice, but they chose to stay quiet,” another protester said. Notably, PDP leaders said the protest was a symbolic beginning and the party will continue to oppose the bill through democratic means—(KNO)
