Srinagar, Apr 18 (KNO): Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Gurinderpal Singh, emphasised a zero-tolerance policy against militancy, crimes against women, drug-related offenses and law & order violations, while expressing openness to corrective measures within the police force. “No form of misconduct is acceptable— not even 0.1%,” SSP Singh said, adding that he has issued strict directives to his subordinate officers to ensure that there is no "hanky-panky" from the police side. During an interaction with the media, the SSP advocated for a collaborative relationship between the police, society and journalists to minimise errors in judgment. “If you, the journalists or the public, come to us and point out any lapse or potential error— even if it originates from the police — we will ensure that corrective measures are taken,” he assured. Focusing on investigations related to militancy, the police officer stressed the necessity for precision. “We cannot afford mistakes in militancy-related cases. While it is imperative to bring the guilty to justice, no innocent individual should be wrongly implicated,” he said. The top cop insisted that any misconduct involving militancy, crimes against women, drug offences, and law & order issues would not be tolerated. “The facts must be recorded truthfully and substantiated in court. Not a single innocent should be punished; only those who truly deserve legal consequences should face them,” he said. SSP Singh further articulated the philosophy of the criminal justice system, saying it must operate in a manner that allows even if a thousand criminals evade justice, not one innocent person should be falsely accused. "Our goal is clear: those who deserve punishment should receive it," he added—(KNO)
