JKLF chief expresses concern over deteriorating health of many inmates | KNO

Srinagar, December 20 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik on Thursday expressed anguish over the ‘deteriorating health condition’ of incarcerated Kashmiris especially JKLF leaders Siraj Ud din Mir, Abdul Rashid Magloo and Ghulam Nabi Kashmiri who are languishing at Kot-Balwal Jail under PSA. A spokesman of JKLF in a statement issued to KNO said that “JKLF Deputy Chief Organizer, 70-year-old Siraj-Ud-din Mir is suffering from many ailments and recently authorities at Kot-Balwal jail had to shift him to Hospital as he fell unconscious in the jail. Siraj-Ud-Din is getting frail day by day and his worsening health is a grave matter of concern for his family.” Similarly, JKLF district president Baramulla Abdul Rashid Magloo had met an accident when he was booked under PSA by police and shifted to Kot-Balwal jail, the statement said. “After accident both of his legs got fractured and he has been in lot of pain since. Another JKLF senior Ghulam Nabi Kashmiri from Kulgam is a chronic patient of diabetics, high blood pressure and heart and his life has been put into danger by authorities by putting him in a far off jail,” it added.Malik also condemned the prolonging of the incarceration of JKLF leaders including Sheikh Nazir Ahmad, Zahoor Ahmad Butt and Assadullah Sheikh of Kulgam whose father died recently and who was deprived by the rulers to offer last prayers to his father. He also strongly condemned the shifting of political prisoners from jails of Jammu Kashmir to various outside state jails. He said that “such is the callousness of rulers and their authorities that peaceful political activists like Umar Adil Dar have been slapped with PSA and shifted to jails of Haryana in India.” Malik also condemned the prolonging of incarceration of hundreds of Kashmiri inmates especially ailing Syeda Asiya Andrabi, Fahmida Sofi, Nahida Nasreen, Syed Shabir Ahmad Shah, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Shahid-Ul-Islam, M.Akbar Ayaz,Farooq Ahmad Dar (BittaKaratay) (who was denied a chance to say good-by to his departing mother),Zahoor Ahmad Watali, Pir Saifullah, Meraj Ud din Kalwal, Naeem Ahmad Khan, Shahid Yousuf Shah, Muhammad Aslam Wani, Shakil Yousuf Shah, Muzafar Ahmad Dar and many others. Meanwhile, spokesman said that JKLF today organized a protest sit-in outside press Islamabad (Pakistan), against what he termed as ongoing state-terrorism against the people of Kashmir by forces. The protest was led by senior vice chairman Abdul Hameed Butt and was attended by senior JKLF and JKSLF leaders including vice chairman Hafiz Anwar Samavi, Vice Chairman, Saleem Haroon, chief spokesman Rafiq Ahmad Dar, Deputy Secretary General Sajid Siddiqui, Zonal President Dr Toqeer Gilani, member of the Supreme Council Khawaja Pervaiz Iqbal, Manzoor Ahmad Khan, Chairman JKSLF Malik Rahim, General Secretary JKSLF Shahjahan, Senior zonal leaders Sardar Anwar Iqbal Adv. Khursheed Ahmed Mirza, Saleem Butt, adv Tauseef Jaral, Muhammad Afzal Beigh, Mazhar Kazmi, and other leaders of the party. Apart from the large number of students, the leadership of Azad Kashmir and Hurriyat Conference including Syed Faiz Naqashbandi, Mohammad Farooq Rahmani, Altaf Ahmad Butt, members of civil attended the protest. Head of the Jammu Kashmir Council for Human Rights Dr. Syed Nazir Ahmed Gilani and other Kashmiris living in Rawalpindi and Islamabad are also participated in the protest sit-in, spokesman said. JKLF leader Abdul Hameed Butt and others addressed the protesters and condemned the ongoing Indian aggression in Kashmir especially the carnage at Pulwama.Speakers appealed international community to rise from its deep slumber and intervene to save the innocent human lives in Kashmir. They also condemned the arrest of JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik under attempt to murder charges and termed it as ‘disgusting’. Meanwhile, Malik has expressed his heartfelt grief and sorrow over the demise of father of senior trade union leader Farooq Ahmad Dar Maisuma and at the demise of the mother of JKLF activist Dilawar Ahmad of Maisuma.On JKLF chairman’s directions, delegation visited the bereaved families and expressed solidarity with them. The delegations comprised of Secretary General JKLF engineer Ghulam Rasool Dar Eidhi, Zonal senior vice chairman Muhammad Yasin Butt, Muhammad Zaman Mir, Muhammad Sideeq Shah, Javed Ahmad Butt and others. JKLF is praying for the heavenly abode of both the deceased and also for Sabr-I-Jamil of their bereaved families, spokesman said. (KNO)
