Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA), Tariq Hussian Naik told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Aru Valley has cultural and natural significance, but the people visiting the spot are polluting the destination by throwing the waste in an open. “We need to make sure that the picturesque place belongs to the people and needs to be preserved by keeping the surroundings neat and clean,” he said, adding that the people visiting the spot should use proper mechanism to throw their waste in order to maintain the hygiene at the spot. Naik further stated that efforts are being made to promote eco-friendly tourism and better waste management. “Therefore, public cooperation in this regard is imperative to encourage sustainable tourism practices,” he said.
