Srinagar, Apr 21 (KNO): Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, on Tuesday said he called on Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, and discussed key road infrastructure projects in the Union Territory.
In a post on X, the LG said the meeting focused on the progress of the Zoji La tunnel, upgradation of NH-3 in Leh city, construction of the Leh Bypass, and pending works under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund.
"The Union Minister informed that the breakthrough of the Zoji La tunnel is likely by the last week of May, adding that once completed, it will ensure all-weather connectivity between Ladakh and the rest of the country," Saxena, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said.
The minister directed officials to expedite clearances for all pending road and infrastructure projects and ensure their timely completion, he said.
"These projects are expected to significantly enhance connectivity and safety in the region, while boosting tourism, trade, economic growth, and generating sustainable employment opportunities in Ladakh," the LG Ladakh said—(KNO)
