Srinagar, Sep 24 (KNO): Peer Ki Gali in the Pir Panjal range received the season’s first snowfall on Thursday, while rainfall was reported from several parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
The snowfall, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), was recorded at the higher reaches of Peer Ki Gali along the Mughal Road, marking the first snowfall of the season in the area.
Rain was reported from several parts of the Union Territory, bringing a change in weather conditions after a largely dry spell.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has, however, forecast mainly dry weather in Jammu and Kashmir over the next two days.
According to the IMD’s latest subdivision-wise forecast, no weather warning has been issued for Jammu and Kashmir for September 25 and 26.
Thunderstorm, lightning and squall activity has been forecast at isolated places on September 27 and 28, while no warning is in place for September 29 and 30.
For Srinagar, the weather office has forecast mainly clear skies on September 25, 26 and 27, followed by partly cloudy conditions with the possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorm on September 28 and 29.
Jammu city is also expected to remain mainly clear till September 27, with partly cloudy conditions and a possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorm on September 28 and 29.
The weather conditions are expected to bring a further drop in temperatures in the higher reaches, with snowfall likely to become more frequent as the season progresses—(KNO)
