Srinagar, May 09 (KNO): In a landmark move, the Jal Shakti Department of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has promoted 30 Executive Engineers as Superintending Engineers within a remarkable span of just 20 days, along with the elevation of two Superintending Engineers to the position of Chief Engineer. This historic initiative has been widely appreciated across engineering circles in the Union Territory. According to a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the J&K Engineering Services Forum (JKESF)—a collective body of all JKPSC-qualified engineers across Jammu and Kashmir—has extended its heartfelt gratitude to the Government of J&K for this unprecedented step in strengthening the engineering cadre, especially within the Hydraulic sector. In a statement, JKESF particularly thanked Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Minister for Jal Shakti, Javed Rana and Additional Chief Secretary & Financial Commissioner, Jal Shakti Department, Shaleen Kabra (IAS). JKESF remarked that such a bold and timely decision not only ensures long-overdue career progression for engineers but also strengthens the execution of critical infrastructure projects, particularly the Jal Jeevan Mission, which has already achieved over 80% progress in the UT. The forum urged engineers of all batches to continue serving with dedication, efficiency, and integrity, ensuring that all developmental targets and deadlines are met with excellence—(KNO)
