Clashes erupted between youth and forces outside Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta area of Old City after congregational Friday prayers.

Clashes erupted between youth and forces outside Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta area of Old City after congregational Friday prayers.

Reports said that police and paramilitary forces personnel were heavily deployed outside the Masjid in strength.

They said that soon after the Friday prayers were over, people assembled outside the Masjid and started protesting against the death sentence to Kulgam youth, Muzaffar.

Police stopped the protesters triggering clashes.

Police used teargas shells and stun grenades to disperse the protesters.

Clashes in the area were going when this report was being filed.
