Two hybrid terrorists arrested in Sopore: Police | KNO

Sopore, Nov 13 (KNO): Police and security forces on Thursday said to have arrested two hybrid terrorists during a joint operation in Moominabad area of Sopore. The arrested individuals, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) have been identified as Shabir Najar and Shabir Ahmed Mir. According to Police, the operation was launched following specific intelligence input about the movement of terror operatives in the area. During the search, both individuals were apprehended and incriminating materials, arms and ammunition were recovered from their possession. Meanwhile, a case has been registered and further investigation is underway. This development comes amid heightened security measures and intensified cordon and search operations across Kashmir, especially in Baramulla and Sopore, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terror networks and curb the activities of Over Ground Workers (OGWs). Meanwhile, as per a statement issued to KNO, said that J&K Police in Sopore along with 22 RR and 179BN CRPF, arrested two hybrid terrorists during a joint naka operation at Sadeeq Colony, Mominabad Sopore. The naka was established following specific input regarding movement of suspicious individuals in the area. During checking, two persons coming from Fruit Mandi Sopore towards Ahat Baba Crossing attempted to flee on noticing the presence of police and security forces. The joint team acted promptly and apprehended both individuals on the spot. The arrested persons have been identified as Shabir Ahmad Najar son of Mohammad Akbar Najar resident of Mohalla Tawheed Colony Maazbugh and Shabir Ahmad Mir son of Mohammad Sultan Mir resident of Brath Sopore. Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition including 01 pistol, 01 magazine, 20 live rounds and 02 hand grenades were recovered from their possession. The recoveries indicate their involvement in terror-related activities in the area. In this regard, police said that a case under FIR number 253/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sopore, and investigation has been set into motion.
