Jammu, Jan 23 (KNO): Security forces on Friday neutralized a Pakistani terrorist affiliated with the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) outfit in a joint operation in the Billawar area of Kathua district According to the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the operation, conducted by a small team from the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), in coordination with the Army and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), targeted the terrorist identified as Zubair. “Zubair was eliminated during the encounter, which unfolded following specific intelligence inputs about his presence in the region,” said a source. “Zubair, a Pakistani national linked to JeM, had infiltrated into Indian territory in March 2024 via the Samba International Border sector. He initially spent around one year operating with other terrorists, including Ashraf Ali and Umar Khan, in the Basantgarh area of the Kathua range,” the source said, adding, “This group was reportedly led by a handler named Saifullah.” “In November 2025, Zubair separated from the group and began moving independently, roaming from village to village under the jurisdiction of Billawar Police Station while evading detection. The joint team launched the operation based on precise leads, leading to an engagement where the terrorist was successfully neutralized,” the source said, adding, “An M4 carbine and other materials were recovered from the site, underscoring his active threat profile. No casualties were reported among the security forces in this operation.” Pertinently, the terrorist was killed amid heightened vigilance in the Jammu region, where security forces have been conducting sustained operations against infiltrators and terror modules attempting to revive activities in the hinterland—(KNO)
