Addressing a press conference here, prominent Surgical Oncologist Dr Sameer Kaul, who has conducted clinical visits to Kashmir over the years, said, “There is a concerning rise in gastrointestinal cancers, including esophageal and stomach cancers, as well as an increase in lung cancer.” Over the past few decades, there has been a spike in prostate cancers among men in Kashmir, he added as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). Dr Kaul said significant progress has been made in cancer treatment through innovations such as robotic surgery, targeted therapies and immunotherapy, which have enhanced patient outcomes. Joining Dr Kaul was Dr Shahin Nooreyezdan, Senior Consultant in Cosmetic, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Apollo Hospital. He discussed the increasing demand for reconstructive and aesthetic procedures and reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to high ethical standards, safety and the latest techniques in plastic surgery. Dr Nooreyezdan said, “We strive not only to achieve the most aesthetically pleasing results but also to enhance our patients' overall well-being. By employing the latest technologies and surgical techniques, we ensure our patients receive the highest standard of care with minimal recovery time.” Dr Sameer Kaul added, “Cancer is no longer a death sentence.
