Mirwaiz condoles demise, calls his death a personal loss

Srinagar, Jan 12 (KNO): Pandit Bhushan Bazaz, one of Kashmir’s most respected intellectuals and founder of the Jammu & Kashmir Democratic Front (JKDF), passed away on Monday at the age of 92. According to details available with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Bhushan, born in 1934, was the son of the legendary writer and reformist thinker Pandit Prem Nath Bazaz, whose work shaped much of Kashmir’s modern political and social discourse. Carrying forward his father’s legacy, Bhushan dedicated his life to promoting "Kashmiriyat", dialogue and democratic engagement. His political vision through the JKDF emphasised dignity, mutual respect and a peaceful resolution of issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir. Bhushan Bazaz is survived by his wife and son. Meanwhile, Mirwaiz Moulvi Umar Farooq condoled his demise, describing him as “a father-like presence” and “a true upholder of Kashmiri ethics”. He called his death a personal loss. “Deeply saddened by the passing of Pandit Bhushan Bazaz. A dear friend of my father, he was a father-like presence in my life. A true upholder of Kashmiri ethics, his sincere love, warmth, and affection will always stay with me. His death is a great personal loss to me and the family. My deepest condolences to his son Kalhan and the Bazaz family,” he wrote on X—(KNO)
