Srinagar, Sept 22 (KNO): Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Mohammad Umar Farooq on Tuesday delivered a special religious address at Dastgeer Sahib shrine in Khanyar on the occasion of the annual Urs Mubarak of Hazrat Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jilani (RA), stressing Tawheed, faith and adherence to the Qur’an and Sunnah.
In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said that Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Mohammad Umar Farooq delivered the special religious address at the historic Aastan-e-Aaliya Dastgeer Sahib (RA), Khanyar, Srinagar.
He said a large number of devotees, including a significant number of women, attended the gathering.
The spokesperson said that in his address, Mirwaiz dwelt upon the fundamental message of Tawheed—the absolute Oneness of Allah Almighty—and highlighted the timeless teachings and spiritual legacy of Hazrat Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jilani (RA).
He said Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani (RA) consistently called upon believers to remain firmly attached to the Qur’an and Sunnah, purify their hearts and souls, perform righteous deeds, and place complete trust and reliance in Allah Almighty.
Mirwaiz said that at a time when Muslims across the world are facing severe challenges, uncertainty and difficult circumstances, the teachings of the revered saint assume even greater relevance. He urged Muslims to strengthen their relationship with Allah Almighty through sincere prayer, genuine repentance, patience, steadfastness, firm faith and unwavering trust in Him.
He stressed that closeness to Allah must also be reflected in one’s conduct towards fellow human beings, and urged the faithful to imbibe the values of humility, compassion, self-purification, righteous character and service to humanity that formed an integral part of the teachings of Hazrat Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jilani (RA).
Mirwaiz stressed that true spirituality lies in sincere devotion to Allah, adherence to His commandments and following the path shown by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The spokesperson said that at the conclusion of his sermon and religious discourse, Mirwaiz recited a Manqabat in praise of Hazrat Peeran-e-Peer Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jilani (RA) and paid rich tribute to his enduring religious, spiritual and reformative services to the Muslim Ummah. Earlier, upon his arrival at Khanyar, Mirwaiz was accorded a warm and enthusiastic welcome by the people.—(KNO)
