Qazigund, Dec 25 (KNO): Girdhari Lal, a resident of Rajasthan, is cycling solo from Leh to Kanyakumari to promote the message of a "Drug-Free India". Speaking with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO during a brief stop in Qazigund in south Kashmir, Lal shared his mission: "My goal is to spread the message of a drug-free and self-sufficient India through this bicycle journey. I started from Leh on the 20th and plan to cross around 12 states. I expect to reach my destination by February 10." Describing the challenges of his journey, Girdhari said, "The temperatures in Leh were freezing, and it’s similarly cold here in Kashmir, but I am determined to continue my mission. Along the way, I have met incredible people. The hospitality in Kashmir is amazing, and it is very safe to ride here. Don’t believe the negative portrayals on TV channels." Lal said his journey goes beyond raising awareness. "It is a call to action for individuals to adopt healthier and more sustainable lifestyles. Building stamina is essential. Without effort, our bodies weaken," he said, encouraging people to embrace physical activities like cycling. Highlighting the environmental benefits of cycling, he said, "Cycling not only improves physical health but also reduces pollution. The more vehicles we use, the more pollution we generate. Promoting cycling will benefit the country, the youth, and all citizens."—(KNO)
