Srinagar, May 08 (KNO): Traffic Police Rural Kashmir has issued a detailed traffic advisory ahead of the scheduled mega Padyatra being organised in Anantnag on May 9, 2026, as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan campaign.
The advisory has been issued to ensure smooth traffic regulation, avoid congestion in the town, and facilitate hassle-free movement of vehicles carrying participants from different areas of south Kashmir who are expected to attend the anti-drug awareness rally in large numbers.
Officials informed the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the designated routes and parking spaces have been earmarked for vehicles arriving from various regions to maintain an effective traffic management system throughout the event.
As per the traffic movement plan, vehicles ferrying participants from the Pahalgam, Aishmuqam, Mattan and Kehribal areas will travel through the Sarnal Crossing–Laizbal route and park at the General Bus Stand parking slot in Anantnag.
Similarly, vehicles coming from Kokernag, Achabal and Brakpora areas have been directed to use the NH-244 route via Brakpora Bypass, Shirpora and Janglatmandi. These vehicles will be parked at the Ahl-i-Hadith Eidgah parking area. Additional parking facilities have also been arranged at Hamdania Sumo Stand, New Achabal Adda, Old Achabal Adda, Mechanical Parking and Hanfia Eidgah in Anantnag town.
Vehicles arriving from the Kulgam and Qazigund areas have been advised to use the Alstop–Wanpoh route and park near the Railway Station parking slot.
Meanwhile, participants travelling from the Bijbehara side will move through Pazalpora and Batengoo, where parking arrangements have been made at the Fruit Mandi and Sumo Stand parking slots.
Vehicles coming from the Dooru side have been directed to take the Dialgam Bypass route via NH-244 and use the Railway Station parking area.
Traffic authorities have appealed to the public, drivers and commuters to cooperate with on-ground personnel and strictly follow the designated routes and parking instructions to prevent traffic bottlenecks and ensure smooth conduct of the rally.
Officials said adequate deployment of traffic personnel will remain in place at key junctions and entry points of Anantnag town to regulate vehicular movement during the event. Citizens have also been advised to avoid unnecessary travel in congested areas during peak rally hours and use alternate routes wherever possible—(KNO)
